Post #1 - Introduction/Explanation:

I started writing this note October 2013 and sent it 18 December 2013 (Also sent an email only with no Photos)

Hi family & friends.

I apologize that this note to you is way overdue and so lengthy.

When we first arrived, we were so busy working with the couple we were replacing, we were occupied with moving into our flat, getting organized, getting settled and adjusting to the time difference. Lack of sleep causes one not to function so well. Consequently, with all of this, I didn’t have time to write a note. Eventually, we had some time and I took it; but I didn’t have time to send it…For the days that followed whenever I had a moment or two, I would jot down some more thoughts and comments for my note to you. This happened over a period of time. Eventually, when I had some time and tried sending it; my note didn’t and wouldn’t go through. As a matter of fact, every time I tried sending an email with the note and photos (which turned out to be numerous times and a variety of ways), it wouldn’t go through.

I tried many different ways of sending my note. I tried sending it as an email with the photos embedded. I tried sending it as an email with the photos attached, I tried sending an email with an attached document. I tried sending it as an email with an attached pdf file. Besides trying to send it as an email, I tried sending it as an email that was divided in four parts. I tried sending it as an email from my Facebook account; and I even tried sending it by using DropBox! (You name it, I’ve tried it). I asked various individuals for suggestions of how to send the note with the photos, which I tried; but as you can see, two months have come and gone without any communication from me with the photos and the note... Needless to say, it’s been very frustrating, upsetting and time consuming with nothing to show for it! 

While I was trying to solve my email problem, we also had computer problems and IPhone problems. We didn’t know our way around Glasgow, so we had the challenge of driving around to various places. We did find the Apple Store and the Geek Squad… Neither of these establishments solved the problems for us on the first, second and/or the third tries. Ron’s power cord for his computer quit working, and my IPhone had some issues. Since I’m having IPhone issues, we haven’t signed up for a phone service plan here for either of our IPhones. Boy, I really miss the use of my IPhone. The mission has given us a cell phone to use, but it’s not a smart phone and it’s very archaic ant very frustrating to use.

Consequently, between the frustration of not being able to send my note with photos and limited time to figure out how to solve the problem, my note never made it to you…until now. Needless to say, it’s been very frustrating, with a major delay in keeping in touch with you. We want you to know that we love you and want to keep in touch. (I hope you haven’t forgotten us.)

We have some friends and family that don’t have Facebook, so we tried to come up with a solution that might work for everyone…

I think I’ve finally come up with a solution that might work! Let me know what you think.

I decided to send an email (without photos). Then I’ll post the email with photos on our blog page. With our new blog, you can check it out any time to see what’s happening with us in Scotland, and we can post any time, which means we can keep it up-to-date… I think a blog might work. Isn’t that a genius solution? 

The title of our blog page is:

Mission Possible: Portland to Scotland.
The URL is http://nortab.blogspot.com

Throughout this whole ordeal, I have learned a lot. I’ve set up a new email address. I’ve set up a blog page. We also have a new Facebook account that will be used for our Scotland/Ireland YSA group. I’m learning a lot, but I have a lot more to learn.

By the way, we arrived safely. More about that later in the note J
